Doodles, Sewing tattoos,Color Fixes and more

My Doodle for the word "Kindness"
I wasn't quite sure what to draw when the word "kindness" was given over on my doodle group. So many things came to mind, but then I began to think that kindness begins in the heart. It is the most sincerest way of giving to another. I knew I wanted to portray kindness in a loving and giving way, and what better than giving of the heart with the human hand gently cradling "kindness" ready to give to another.

Thursday's Dragonfly Class
I had a great time teaching in Milford, PA. These girls were eager to learn, create, sew, chat and ohhhh the desserts at lunch!!! Here are some pics of the class I taught.

And here are those die-hard appliquers who stay to the very end to just about finish their dragonfly for the photos! Thanks girls!!!

Sewing Tattoos
On my QuiltArt list, Lauren told us about some sewing tattoos. I could not "not share" this with all of you. They are just to magnificent.
You may not be a fan of tattoos, but look at the courage these girls had for the love of the needle! (pun intended)

Word Doodles, Fun Stuff, Color Fix,and a Quote

My Word Doodle : Bubbles

If you have been following my blog, you know that I am doing a doodle a week to a word prompt given over at Jaye's blog. The word was "Bubbles". I am enjoying the process of drawing again. It has been so long and I look forward every week to these words. I hide a little something inside each design that makes it "mine". This week I used highlighters to color in my designs! I actually think that I will make this one a quilt someday soon. I hope you'll come join us . You don't have to draw, you can interpret the word any way you choose inside your journal...fabrics, magazinbe cutouts....it's up to you!

I was having some fun on my computer (the desktop), not the laptop that crashed, and found this photo of flowers I took in Lubec, Germany. I wanted to see what they would look like if I did some photo manipulation to them and was pleasantly suprised that I saw a quilt pattern.Click on it if you want to see it larger!

I wanted to share something fun. Every so often, we do word or phrase prompts on my little yahoo group and make small applique blocks portraying the word. Afterwards, we have a little game to see who wins all the small blocks. The prompt for this one was "Undies on the line" and this was my little version.
The block is 6".

Oh No! Another patchwork chair...will they ever end? Just teasing. I am curious how many others reupholster their chairs with patchwork, or something like this. If you have made something out of your orphan blocks, other than a quilt, let me know and I'll post it right here. It would be alot of fun to see how we re purpose our quilting!

I love quotes. They inspire me and make me think. A quote has to grab my attention and stay with me. I thought that every so often, I would share some of my favorite quotes with you. When a quote inspires me, I jot it down inside my journal.

Something NEW, Winged Things,More Patchwork Furniture,Your Color Fix,

Something Brand Spankin' New...
Oh Yeah!!! This is something brandy new being announced to the world right now, right here....it's my newest class and newest pattern.OWLS!!!WooHoooo It's not out in the world right now as I still have to quilt it, but I couldn't wait to show you. I am looking for a name...if you have a suggestion, my ears are open....cause I need a really good name for them.

I Love Wings!
Always have and always will. I was looking over most of my quilts, patterns and classes and found a common thing....WINGS!!! Butterflies, Dragonflies, Ladybugs,Birds,Owls,Fairies, Angels....WINGS!!! I just love em'. Here are just a small smattering of some winged things I have done.

Now don't these look like patchwork patterns??? I thought you thought that too. I sure envy the person that could just go to it and paint these up. I wonder if they gave thought to what patterns they would paint, or if they just went for it. So much of what I do has no thought or rhyme to it. I create whatever comes into my twitchy little fingers eager to create. How about you? Have any of you painted anything with a patchork theme to it?

Just when I thought I found "all" of them, more turns up! Can ya believe it? I found this at http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/

Winners Announced,Color Fix, Fabric and more!

My Book Give-Away Winner Announced!!!
How exciting is this??? Last week I was featured as a guest blogger on Quilting Gallery and I had a book give away, not one but two books. All that was needed was for someone to post a comment on how many scissors and pincushions I owned. As promised, today is March 1st, the day to post the pics of the scissors and pin cushions and announce my winners!

The answer is 45 pairs of scissors
and the winner is
Sherelyn Nichol of Houston, TX who will receive an autographed copy of my book "Quilted Fairie Tales"
CONGRATULATIONS!

The answer is 24 Pin Cushions, bet ya thought I had more! The winner is a TIE....can ya believe it? Each guessed 27. It is a tie between Carolyn Howland and Donelly Barber. WOW! So my tie breaker question is: What time of the day was I born? The closest guess will receive an autographed copy of my book "Bended Bias to Applique" .

If you did not get a chance to read my guest blogger article, just click here and you can read a little about who I am and how I came to be a quilter!

Creative Prompt Doodle
Check it out and come join us at Jaye's blog or click on the COW link on my sidebar!!!

My Doodle for the word "Excitement", well I chose to use the word "excited"

Once I doodled out my word for excited, I couldn't stop. It was as if the sharpie black marker took over and before I knew it I had this comical girl drawn. I always drew real life figures, but I wanted to experiment and do something different. This time I used my colored pencil instead of water colors like I used in my last doodle of the tree. It makes me so happy to use colors. Colors make me thrive and be creative!

I had to share my most favorite fabrics "of the moment"....YUM YUM YUM!!!They are so different, but I love them equally. I wonder what I will make with them....hmmmm. The flower and leaf fabric on the left is "The Lindsey Collection" by Karen Montgomery for Timeless Treasures Fabrics. The stripey and fish fabrics are fat quarters and the name idn't on the selvage. If you know the name....PLEASE let me know!

HOW COOL IS THIS? On my midnight quests perusing the internet, I came across this
Laptop Pillow by IF. Check it out!

And as always.....
